ICAN Stoke on TrentThe Early Years Speech & Language Service at Stoke-on-Trent opened in January 2003 to provide integrated education and speech and language therapy to children within the Foundation Stage who have a severe speech and/or language disability.
The centre is one of a national network developed by ICAN. Locally our centre was developed in Partnership with City of Stoke-on-Trent LEA and Newcastle-under-Lyme Primary Care Trust.
ICAN is a charity that helps children with speech language disabilities across the UK, by providing training and support to Practitioners and Speech and Language Therapists.
In 2005 the Stoke-on-Trent centre achieved ICAN Accreditation. This awarded to settings that have successfully met the criteria set by ICAN, making it a Centre of Excellence. The Stoke-on-Trent ICAN service is one of 18 services within the UK to have achieved Accreditation status.
