Urban Art: 16th September - 8th October
Exhibition of artwork by groups of young people, created in response
to the urban environment.

Saturday morning art club for 8 to 14 year olds, fortnightly, term
time only. £2.60 each or £10 for four sessions.
The Big Draw: 14 October
Create a drawing inspired by the stunning pottery and patterns in the
Islamic Ceramics exhibition. All children must be accompanied by
an adult. 10.30 – 4.00. Free.
Who Let The Donkey In? 21 October – 3 December
Art has always had the ability to surprise. In this intriguing show,
artist Jacqui Poncelet has sited various pieces of contemporary art
around the Museum. Discover everything from quirky ceramics to a
five legged donkey!
Holiday Fun: 24 – 27 October
Make a pom-pom bat in preparation for Halloween! Drop in, 10.30 – 4.00, £1.
All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Gladstone Gnome Trail: 9 September - 16 October
Hunt the gnomes, complete our trail and you could win a prize, £1
plus admission. Free gift for all who take part.
Heritage Open Day: 10 September
Visit Gladstone FREE OF CHARGE today as part of a national celebration
of England's heritage and culture. For more information on Heritage
Open Days please see www.heritageopendays.org. There will be a free
guided walk of historic Longton, led by local historian Phil Rowley
and leaving from the museum shop at 2.00. (Limited numbers, please
book in advance).
Longton Landscape: 14 October – 31 October
Gladstone Pottery Museum in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, is the only complete
Victorian pottery factory in England but at one time the area around
the museum was peppered with potbanks and bursting with bottle ovens!
Help us to create a new Longton landscape by drawing a design onto
a bottle oven or Victorian House. 10.00 – 5.00, free with museum
admission.
Stoke-on-Trent Ceramics Festival: 14 and 15
October
Visit the museum for the reduced admission price of £2.50 per
person during this celebration of ceramics in Stoke-on-Trent.
Brick Sculpture: 14 October
Join professional potter Tez Roberts of Labyrinth arts in our all-day
Brick Sculpture event and produce your own piece of ceramic art to
take home. Free with museum admission. 10.00 - 4.00.
Historic Longton Walk: 15 October
There will be a free guided walk of historic Longton, led by local

Phantom Pottery Painting: 21 - 29 October
Choose from a selection of Halloween themed pottery to decorate and
take home. From £1 plus admission.
Classic Bus Running Day: 21 October
Admire the display of classic buses and coaches outside the Gladstone
Pottery Museum and enjoy a ride on an historic vehicle. Admission
free to outside event. Bus rides 10.00 – 4.00.
Googly Eyed Ghosts: 24 and 26 October
Join our craft workshop and conjure up your own googly-eyed Gladstone
ghost on a stick. 50p plus admission. 11.00 - 4.00.
Haunted Evenings: 27 and 28 October
Dare you join us for our ghostly evening event at the haunted pottery
factory? Hear terrifying tales of yesteryear and watch an exclusive
showing of the Most Haunted episode filmed this year at Gladstone
by kind permission of Living TV. Tickets are £6.95, not recommended
for children under eight.
Christmas Trail: 1 November – 24 December
Find the festive clues in our seasonal hunt and you could win a prize, £1
plus admission, free gift for everyone taking part.
Victorian Christmas Festival: 9 December
Get a feel for traditional Victorian Christmas celebrations at our
popular annual extravaganza. A magical evening of traditional entertainment
including a Victorian Magic Lantern Show, street entertainers, Victorian
theatre, choirs, candle lit demonstrations, craft stalls, traditional
music, mulled wine, roast chestnuts and much more. 6.30 – 9.45.

Cabaret Mechanical Theatre presents Mechanics Alive! 27 September
- 1 November
Come and press the buttons and bring these humorous automata to life
demonstrating simple mechanics. Help the sheep get his revenge on the
farmer; will he cut his head off or not? See what happened to the Three
Bears after Goldilocks paid them a visit! Normal admission charges

Family Learning: Marvellous Mechanics: 7 October
Be inspired by the amusing Cabaret Mechanical Theatre’s automata
collection. Design and bring to life your own witty model. Drop in

The Big Draw – Doodle Day: 14 October
The Big Draw is an opportunity for all ages and abilities to draw inside
and outside of the Jesse Shirley’s Bone and Flint Mill. The
museum’s tea room will display the results as a collaborative
mural during the weekend. 12.00 – 3.00. Normal admission charges

Amazing Automata: 23 – 25 October
Have a go with our special automata kits, use levers, cams and cranks
to construct simple mechanics. Then make your own card automata toy
to take home. Drop in, 12.00 – 3.00. £2 per child, 50p

A display about the Ford family. Find out about the intriguing family
tree of the Fords who built and lived in Ford Green Hall for over two
centuries. What are their connections with Barclays Bank, Tennyson
and Wedgwood?
Heritage Open Day: 10 September
A chance to visit the hall for free and experience the museum's authentic
17th century interiors and friendly family atmosphere. The Ford Green
Hall Threaders will be demonstrating embroidery and answering questions

and join in The Big Draw using the 17th century building and its furniture

Half term craft activity at Ford Green Hall. Make a spider inspired

The Wise Woman: 29 October
Meet a 'wise woman' at Ford Green Hall who used herbs to heal people
and cast spells. Learn about the many uses of herbs. 1.00 – 4.00.

A 17th Century Christmas: 10 December
Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and smells of 17th century festivities.
See the house decorated with traditional greenery, listen to period
music performed in the Hall and enjoy a glass of mulled punch in
the tearoom. Chance to make and take away a pomander. 1.00 – 4.00.
